Man found stabbed on Lee Street

VALDOSTA — Police are investigating an aggravated assault and robbery that occurred in Downtown Valdosta early Thursday morning and left a local man in serious condition, according to the Valdosta Police Department Friday.

At 5:24 a.m. Thursday, officers responded to a call of a 48-year-old man with multiple stab wounds lying in the roadway of the 300 block of Lee Street, police report.

The injured man was taken to South Georgia Medical Center for treatment and was reportedly drifting in and out of consciousness during transport, according to VPD. The man underwent surgery and was listed Friday in serious condition, reports stated.

A cell phone and $60 cash were taken from the man during the incident, reports stated.

The Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene, and the investigation is ongoing.

Police released no information regarding a possible suspect in the case.
