VALDOSTA — The suspect wanted in connection with the September robbery of a Valdosta convenience store surrendered to authorities Thursday, according to the Valdosta Police Department.

At 9:45 a.m. Thursday, Demetrius Anderson, 20, of Valdosta turned himself in to authorities at the Lowndes County Jail, police reported.

Warrants for robbery by force and battery had previously been issued on Anderson for the Sept. 19 robbery of Lee’s Mini Mart on East Ann Street.

During that incident, it was reported that the offender jumped over the counter, struck the cashier in the face, removed money from the drawer and fled on foot.

The cashier was the store’s owner. He suffered a small cut on his forehead and did not require medical attention, police reported.

The Valdosta Police Department asks anyone with information about this or any other crime to call (229) 293-3145. Anonymous calls can be made to (229) 293-3091.
