Remembering MLK

Community honors Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.


VALDOSTA — Wednesday, Jan. 29

— “The Three Social Evils,” Panel Discussion. University Center Theater, 7 p.m. Hosted by MLK Planning Committee.

For more information on the programs being held at VSU, contact the Office of Social Equity at (229) 333-5463. All VSU events are a collaborative effort of VSU’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Planning Committee, which is comprised of several offices, departments and organizations.


Sunday, Jan. 19

— Commemoration Program. St. Paul A.M.E. Church 419 Ashley Street, 3 p.m. Keynote speaker for the event will be Elder Edward D. Mack of the New Destiny Temple of Deliverance in Valdosta.

Monday, Jan. 20

— Youth Showcase. Mathis City Auditorium, 11 a.m. Keynote speakers for the event will be Valious Smith with Tabernacle Church of God in Christ, and Nasier Vazquez with Southside Church of Christ. Lunch will be served immediately following the program. Everyone is asked to bring a canned good donation to the Youth Showcase for the Soup Kitchen.
