VALDOSTA — A Valdosta man entered a guilty plea to possession with intent to distribute more than 28 grams of crack cocaine this week in federal court, according to the United States Attorney Middle District of Georgia’s Office Wednesday.

Wesley “Westside” White Sr., 38, of Valdosta made his plea before Senior U.S. District Court Judge Hugh Lawson in a Valdosta federal courtroom.

On June 3, 2013, the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office’s Special Operations division issued a search warrant at White’s 200 block Hollywood Street residence. There, authorities seized six crack cocaine cookies sealed in sandwich bags, seven bags of powder cocaine, one gallon-sized bag of marijuana and a cocaine press “which contained some of the cocaine, in the kitchen of the residence,” according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. “In the living room, officers found two quart-sized bags of marijuana, digital scales and $1,216.”

At the time of his arrest, White was charged with trafficking of cocaine, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of the tools for the commission of a crime and violation of the Georgia Street Gang Act, according to reports.

For the possession of cocaine with intent to distribute plea, White faces a sentence of a mandatory five years up to 40 years in prison, a $5 million fine, or possibly both, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office.

“In the Middle District of Georgia, people who deal drugs will face the full force of the federal authorities, specifically my office, which is made possible by the extraordinary cooperative efforts of our state and federal law-enforcement agencies,” U.S. Attorney Michael Moore said.

In addition to the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office, the FBI Southwest Georgia Gang Task Force, Valdosta Police Department and the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office participated in the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert D. McCullers is handling the prosecution.
