VALDOSTA — Authorities apprehended two motorists after a chase ended in a crash Sunday on West Hill Avenue, while the truck’s third occupant was transported to South Georgia Medical Center, according to reports from the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office.

A uniform patrol deputy noticed a Toyota Tacoma, with no license plate, traveling on West Hill Avenue at approximately 9 a.m. Sunday, reports stated. Authorities later determined that the truck had been stolen from an Iola Drive residence.

The deputy attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled east on Hill Avenue at speeds that brushed 80 miles per hour, according to reports.

The vehicle entered the construction zone on West Hill Avenue and eventually crashed into a tree, where the driver and one of his passengers fled the wreck, leaving the truck’s third occupant behind, reports stated. Authorities caught the two individuals.

Deputies reportedly found several capsules of Vyvanse, a Schedule II prescription medication for individuals suffering from ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), in the driver’s pockets, reports stated.

Don Juan Richardson, 42, is charged with theft by receiving stolen property, violation of Georgia Controlled Substance Act, obstruction of an officer, fleeing and attempting to elude, and various traffic offenses, reports stated. Geraldine  Pittman, 51, is charged with theft by receiving stolen property, reports stated.

The vehicle’s third occupant was still under the care of South Georgia Medical Center and won’t be identified until authorities officially charge the individual, reports stated.

Both Richardson and Pittman were transported to the Lowndes County Jail, according to reports.
