A drug investigation led to a chase Wednesday and the arrest of a man wanted for probation violation, according to the Valdosta Police Department.
Based on numerous complaints by homeowners associated with a Community Neighborhood Watch Program, the Valdosta Police Department conducted a narcotics drug investigation on the 2100 block of North Troup Street.
A white 2007 Chrysler Sebring failed to stop for
narcotics officers Wednesday during the investigation.
Detectives located the vehicle which had crashed through the front yard of a residence on the 1000 block of Ponderosa Drive. The vehicle caused damage to a chain-link fence at that residence.
The driver fled the vehicle and ran north through a drainage ditch and continued north on the train tracks until later apprehended in a marshy area by narcotics detectives.
Raymond D. Battle, 26, of Valdosta was arrested and charged with violation of probation (outstanding warrant), four counts failure to stop at a stop sign, reckless driving, driving on a suspended license, failure to maintain lane, interference with an officer, according to the Valdosta Police Department.
