Two arrested in meth search

VALDOSTA — Two men are in jail after the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office raided a meth lab and discovered methamphetamine oil and an unknown substance.

On Wednesday night, investigators served a search warrant along the 2900 block of Mud Swamp Road and discovered approximately 1,000 grams of methamphetamine oil, a product of the methamphetamine-manufacturing process, reports stated.

Investigators also found ingredients and components used to create a meth lab along with a small quantity of marijuana. Investigators were unable to identify 500 grams of a liquid by-product that will be sent for laboratory testing, according to reports.

The search also uncovered a number of firearms and a motorcycle previously reported as stolen to the Valdosta Police Department, reports stated.

Anthony Wade Wright, 38, and Stephen Earl Bennett, 57, were arrested and charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine and possession of items used for the manufacture of methamphetamine. Additionally, Wade was charged with possession of marijuana, and Bennett was charged with theft by receiving stolen property, reports stated.

Lowndes County Sheriff Chris Prine said the investigation is on-going and additional charges are likely. Investigators are also seeking arrest warrants for a person connected to the meth-manufacturing operation.
