FBI issues photos from Valdosta bank robbery

VALDOSTA — The Federal Bureau of Investigation released a wanted poster Friday containing two photos of an unknown, masked gunman connected to a December 2012 Valdosta bank robbery.

While two gunmen entered the Bank of America, 2001 Baytree Road, on Dec. 20, 2012, the FBI poster places the emphasis on one suspect, noting he is a black male, medium complexion, 6-foot-2, age approximately in his 20s, weighing 220 pounds.

At the time of the robbery, reports claimed one robber was heavy set and the other was thin.

At 9:03 a.m. that date, two masked men, both described as black males, entered the bank, “waving semi-automatic handguns and ordering all of the occupants on the floor,” according to the FBI.

The men stole an undisclosed amount of money and exited the bank, hopping into their blue Jeep Grand Cherokee, with its motor still running in the parking lot, according to previous reports by The Times.

The robbers drove out of the bank turning left onto Springhill Drive and turned right where it turned back into Baytree. The two men abandoned the blue SUV and hopped into another SUV waiting with a third person driving at a nearby apartment complex, according to earlier reports.

Authorities recovered the abandoned Jeep.

The FBI warns these men should be considered armed and dangerous. If anyone recognizes them, or knows who they may be, citizens are asked to contact the nearest FBI office. Tips may also be submitted by visiting tips.fbi.gov.
