July 4 found Wild Adventures celebrating with a wide variety of events for attendees who came out undaunted by the rain clouds that gathered throughout the day and occasionally sent short showers down.
Along with the normal rides and animal attractions, Wild Adventures started special events with an all-day home-run derby for kids 13 and under.
Throughout the day, kids played games of water-balloon toss, tried to out-mess each other in a Messy Contest, and flexed their teamwork muscles in a sponge relay that found the kids frantically trying to fill a pitcher while their parents shouted encouragement.
Later, in the afternoon, park-goers participated in a hot dog contest, a watermelon contest and a Wild Idol Karaoke Competition.
After a day of Wacky Wild West shows, magic shows and animal shows, rising country band The Springs took the stage, with the five-person band playing their own blend of country.
The night was topped off like many other July 4 celebrations across the country and across the world, with a bright array of fireworks shooting off in the night sky, illuminating the audience with pops of light over and over again before softly tumbling down to the Earth.
Wild Adventures offers the largest fireworks display in South Georgia and North Florida. The Times was a partner in the July 4 fireworks. Wild Adventures presents more fireworks tonight, July 5, and offers more Independence Day specials throughout today and the weekend.
