Burglary suspects cornered in home

VALDOSTA — Officers had to track a runner to a neighboring residence after cornering other burglary suspects inside of a residence in the 900 block of Worth Avenue Thursday afternoon, according to the Valdosta Police Department.

Three suspects had been surrounded inside of the residence by a perimeter of officers from the Valdosta Police Department and Lowndes County Sheriff's Office. Authorities responded to a phoned tip from a citizen about three suspicious males seen prowling the area, according to reports.

One suspect was able to breach the net of law-enforcement officers and fled into an apartment located in the 1700 block of Norman Drive, according to reports, but he was apprehended a short time later.

Asa Balloon, 18, Jamarcus Thomas, 19, and Demetrius Thompson, 19, have all been charged with burglary and were transported to the Lowndes County Jail, reports stated. Thompson received additional charges of escape, giving false information and misdemeanor marijuana possession as well as criminal trespass related to the entry of the Northside Drive apartment, according to police department reports.
