\If you’re dreaming of a white Christmas, dream elsewhere. Valdosta will be dry and cold Dec. 25, but no snow’s on the horizon, according to the National Weather Service.
A cold front moving through the area today will bring a 70 percent chance of showers, isolated thunderstorms and gusty winds to Lowndes County, says Ron Block, meteorologist for the weather service’s Tallahassee, Fla., office.
The rain should clear out after midnight tonight, leaving Christmas Eve and Christmas day dry, he said.
High temperatures should start out around 71 today, dropping to 55 on Tuesday following the rain and 58 on Christmas, Block said. Lows should fall to 42 at night Tuesday, he said.
At sunrise Christmas morning, the temperature in Valdosta should be around 29 degrees, Block said.
“There’s no chance of snow,” he said. “(The Valdosta area) will be chilly with clear skies.”
