A shooting victim is expected to survive and a suspect is in custody following an incident in Valdosta Tuesday night, according to police.
A dispute between two neighbors resulted in one shooting the other at 506 West St., said Lt. Aaron Kirk of the Valdosta Police Department. Police received a call on the shooting at 7:34 p.m., he said.
Both men were “highly intoxicated,” and the victim was shot once, Kirk said.
The suspect, Hubert Heflin, 49, is being charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and potentially faces charges of aggravated assault and aggravated battery, Kirk said.
