Train halts after man falls on railroad tracks

Malynda Fulton
The Valdosta Daily Times

VALDOSTA

Traffic on West Hill Avenue was delayed for about 30 minutes Tuesday while authorities responded to what they thought was an accident at a Norfolk Southern train route.

Valdosta police and emergency medical services responded to the area around 12:30 p.m. Valdosta Police Capt. Bobbi McGraw said that a train had been stopped on the track because train personnel thought a man had been hit.

“The train was stopped as a precautionary measure,” she said. “Fortunately, they discovered that the man had just fallen on the track, but was not hit.”

Around 1 p.m. the train resumed its route, and traffic continued as normal.
