VALDOSTA — Authorities continue searching for the person or persons responsible for shooting a 22-year-old Valdosta man Friday night.

At 11 p.m., the Valdosta Police Department was dispatched to the parking lot area between Andy’s Place and Andy’s Wings and Things at Lake Park Road and Old Statenville Road, said Capt. Bobbi McGraw of the Valdosta Police Department.

At the scene, officers discovered that a 22-year-old black male had been shot once in the torso.

Police are not releasing the name of the victim at this time, but they did say that he was transported to an area hospital for treatment and remains in serious condition.

McGraw said police do not yet know what led to the shooting incident.

“That’s something we’re looking into,” she said. “We don’t know yet if they knew each other or not. We’re still trying to figure out why the shooting occurred.”

Detectives with the Valdosta Police Department do have some leads in the case, McGraw said, but no suspects had been identified at press time and no arrests had been made.

Cmdr. Brian Childress with the Valdosta police dept. said the victim is conscious and investigators are speaking with him to try and determine what happened.

Anyone with information regarding this crime is urged to call the Valdosta Police Department main desk at (229) 242-2606 or the 24-hour Crime Tip Line at (229) 293-3091.
