Investigation continues into suspected homicide

VALDOSTA — The body of a man found dead at Gallegos Body Shop Monday has been identified.
Authorities have identified the deceased man as 36-year-old Ventura Guerreo Ortiz, originally of Guanajuato, Mexico.
Employees of the body shop, located at 103 N. Lee St., found Ortiz around 9:41 a.m. The body was found on a piece of furniture outside of the business.
Employees told authorities that the business had been closed since Saturday.
While no cause of death has been determined, Valdosta Police Department Lt. Bobbi McGraw said that the victim had visible injuries on his body.
The types and locations of the wounds are not being released at this time, as it may interfere with the investigation.
The death is being investigated as a homicide.
Ortiz’s body has been sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigations Crime Lab in Decatur for an autopsy.
Authorities do not have any suspects, but are following up on various leads at this time.
