VALDOSTA — Ninety-nine students from Echols, Lanier, and Lowndes counties exhibited their hogs in the 33rd Annual Lowndes Area Market Show and Sale on Tuesday at the Lowndes County Civic Center. The elementary, middle, and high school students are members of either local 4-H or FFA organizations.

Jack Wall of Telfair County was the market show judge as well as senior grades showmanship.

Brandon Carter of Lanier FFA exhibited the grand champion of the show. The reserve champion was exhibited by Jada Daniels of Lowndes 4-H.

Class winners included Mandy Mann of Lanier FFA, Class 1; Rebecca Kinsey of Echols FFA, Class 2; Brinson Coggins of Echols 4-H, Class 3; Lindsey Herring of Echols 4-H, Class 4; Rob Permenter of Echols 4-H, Class 5; Jenna Musgrove of Echols FFA, Class 6; Jada Daniels of Lowndes 4-H, Class 7; Kevin Simpson of Echols FFA, Class 8; Clay Parker of Lowndes 4-H, Class 9; and Brandon Carter of Lanier FFA, Class 10.

A regionally renowned livestock show judge, Wall had the difficult task of placing the hogs in the show.

The last division was showmanship, judged on the ability of the students to exhibit their hogs.

Ed Sapp of Madison County, Florida, assisted with the judging of junior grades showmanship.

Showmanship winners included Tristan Cochran of Lanier 4-H, Grades 1-2; Clay Parker of Lowndes 4-H, Grades 3-4; Mari Helen Strickland of Lanier 4-H, Grade 5; Logan Hill of Echols FFA, Grade 6; Lane Peavy of Lowndes FFA, Grade 7; Clay Corbett of Echols FFA, Grade 8; Kyle Herring of Echols FFA, Grade 9; Dylan Barrett of Echols FFA, Grade 10; Rebecca Kinsey of Echols FFA, Grade 11; and Holly Bryant of Lowndes FFA, Grade 12.

At show time these students had been working with their hogs for about six weeks. Students sold their hogs on Wednesday beginning with the grand champion and the other blue ribbon hogs at 7 p.m.

The show is sponsored by the Langdale Company, Echols County Farm Bureau, and Lowndes County Farm Bureau.
