Smith Northview focuses on lung health

Smith Northview Hospital’s Respiratory Therapy Department will host a free PFT screening from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Wednesday in the hospital lobby in recognition of Respiratory Care Week, Oct. 25-31.

Pulmonary function tests are performed to assess lung function and determine the degree of damage to the lungs.

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a serious lung disease that makes it hard to breathe. It is the fourth leading cause of death in the United States. Early detection is key.

Smith Northview Hospital’s Respiratory Therapy Department will present “Respiratory Medication Delivery” at 7 p.m. on Thursday in the hospital cafeteria. Those interested in attending should call Lori at (229) 671-2162
