FCCLA members attend rally, install officers for 2008



Thirty-three Family, Career, Community Leaders of America members participated in the Fall Leadership Rally Oct. 10. Members traveled to the Georgia National Fairgrounds in Perry, Georgia along with 4500 other FCCLA members from across the state. FCCLA members were introduced to the many programs and opportunities available to students who join FCCLA.

Special guest speaker Bryan Fiese shared techniques for “power presenting” and how to better use voice, eyes, gestures, posture and movement to deliver hard hitting, and memorable presentations. After the general sessions members received a rally T-shirt and a pass to ride the rides at the fair.

Mrs. Margie Chatelain FCCLA advisor and Mrs. Lynn Hall were chaperones for the FCCLA Fall Leadership Rally.

Participants included Johnathan Childs, Cali Cribb, Leslie Zipperer, Jordan Brooks, Danielle Vallely, Jamie Lineberger, Caitlin Connolley, Jamie Joy, Urie Register, Janetta Laster, Tiffany Taveras, Monika Patel, Deanna Thomas, Summer Sullivan, Adrian Graham, Darion Williams, Kelsi Herring, Stephanie Newham, Brittany Friday, Kristian Darling, Brooke Singletary, Katie Black, Jasmine Roan, Rashanda Hughes, Kanisha Tarver, Morgan Johnson, Kenturia Mills, Latoya Brandon, Nikki Dudley, Danielle Hatfield and Brittany Stigall.

2008 officers were also installed for FCCLA in a special candlelight ceremony on Sept. 27. Each officer lit a candle that represented one of the purposes of FCCLA. Chatelain inducted the officers into the organization and presented each with a long stem rose, which is the official FCCLA flower.

FCCLA officers for 2007-2008 are Cali Cribb, president, Caitlin Connolly; VP of programs, Jordan Brooks; VP of publicity, Holly Scott; vice president of public relations, Joley Herring; VP of hospitality, Erin Ellis; VP of projects, Jonathan Childs; VP of Events, Jamie Lineberger; VP of entertainment, Danielle Vallely; Historian, and Sharhonda Herring; secretary.
