Southern Artists showcase at Smith Northview
By Dean Poling
VALDOSTA — For 20 years, Southern Artists League has been an organization serving as an advocate, resource and meeting place for regional artists in South Georgia and North Florida.
This evening, Southern Artists League receives guests for its ongoing “Fall Collage” exhibit at Smith Northview Hospital.
The exhibit displays why SAL is such an exciting organization: The Southern Artists League is a showcase for the region’s artistic talent and versatility.
With more than 20 regional artists participating, some with several works each, the Southern Artists League’s show is a multi-faceted exhibit.
Artists include Grady Whitfield, Valerie Ruminski, Betty Smith, Barbara Norris, H. Marshall Norris, Ernest Beck, Pam Scruggs, Annette Crosby, Deanna Wheeler, Jeanne Cowart, Frances M. Beck, Claire Hall, Haley Hyatt, Colleen Harris, Steph Nelson, Deb House, J. Stephen Lahr, Kenny Harper, Jean E. Gay, Dell Gay, and Darryl McCoy.
First- through fifth-place ribbons will be announced during this evening’s show. Seventy-five percent of any sales goes to the artist, with 25 percent divided between the Volunteer Auxiliary and the Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts.
