Lake Park Chamber hosts 2009 Fall Frolic

By Matt Flumerfelt

The Valdosta Daily Times

LAKE PARK — The Lake Park Area Chamber of Commerce hosts its 2009 Fall Frolic at the Preferred Outlet Mall, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday.

Vendors selling arts and crafts, a classic car show, pony rides, Halloween costume contests, dance and musical performances, cotton candy and caramel apples are just a few of the things participants will enjoy.

The band Mainstream will perform from noon until 4 p.m., said Michele Mullins, Lake Park Chamber of Commerce executive director. Several girls dance and cheerleading teams will also perform. Festival foods like cotton candy, caramel apples, barbecue sandwiches, etc., will be available at several of the outlet stores, Mullins said, like The Georgia Pasty Company and Becky’s Cakes.

Halloween costume contests will continue throughout the afternoon, she said. Kids can wear their costumes and go trick-or-treating at the mall stores. Pony rides, face painting, and bounce houses will add their brand of fun to the day’s entertainment. The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office will be making Project Kid Care ID cards listing children’s height, weight, age, etc., including their fingerprints to help keep kids safe, she said.

There will be a classic car show involving area classic car clubs and individual owners. More than 20 vendors have already signed up to offer their wares at the Fall Frolic, she said, but booth space is still available. Vendors can find registration forms online at www.lakeparkga.com. For more information, call the Lake Park Chamber of Commerce at (229) 559-5302.
