VALDOSTA — Southern Artists League commemorates 20 years of presenting and representing South Georgia and North Florida artists, says Marshall Norris, SAL president.
Tonight, the Southern Artists League sponsors a pot-luck supper and a presentation from VSU Art’s Dr. Paula L. McNeal, says SAL member Haley Hyatt.
McNeal is scheduled to discuss the sculpted furniture of Utah artist David Delthony.
“Long before he saw the Escalante canyons, David Delthony was creating sculptured furniture that echoed the landscape of southern Utah,” according to the Southern Artists League.
“Most recently, along with the work of American architect Frank Lloyd Wright, glass sculptor Dale Chihuly, and others, Delthony’s contemporary rocking chair, ‘Lotus,’ was included in the 11th edition of McGraw Hill’s ‘Art Fundamentals,’ a textbook used in university level art foundations classes.”
The event is scheduled for 7-9 p.m. today, Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts, 527 N. Patterson St.
