ELECTIONS: Board of Assessors, Post 2

• Steve Davis (R)

Age: 36

Party: Republican

Employment: Valdosta Collision Center

Why are you running for this office?

“I feel like I can do better for Lowndes County.” He adds that he feels Lowndes County government is ready for new faces and new ideas. Believes public offices should be about the good of the people rather than the good of the county or state.

What qualifications do you bring to the position?

“I’ve always been good with numbers.” He has been a business owner since 1999. He worked several years as the business manager for a franchise car dealership, was named in the Top 50 nationally in finance and marketing within that franchise’s national corporation.

Do you think elected assessors should have to follow the same mandates on education and qualifications as the appointed ones do?

“No. They need to be educated in the process and how assessed values work.” Education is important, but he adds that “common sense and concern for the community” are more important than an advanced degree.

What are your plans if you are elected?
