One person’s junk is another person’s treasure.
At least that’s the motto of The Valdosta Daily Times’ annual Fall Yard Sale and Market, which is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Lowndes County Civic Center.
Everyone is encouraged to come out and roam through more than 95 vendors offering a variety of merchandise, some of it old, some of it new.
Everything from handmade arts and crafts to new retail store merchandise to holiday items will be up for sale.
“We have vendors this year from several counties around us, not just from Valdosta,” Publisher J.H. Sandy Sanders said.
The yard sale is one of the largest ever sponsored by The Valdosta Daily Times since its inception five years ago, he said.
All of the available booth space has been rented out, and there is currently a waiting list for vendors wanting to participate in the event, Advertising Director Julie Killion said.
Last year, more than 500 shoppers showed up for the event, she said.
The Valdosta Daily Times will host another yard sale in the spring.
Money raised from concession sales Saturday will benefit Newspapers in Education.
Through Newspapers in Education, The Valdosta Daily Times provides newspapers to area schools by subsidizing 70 percent of the cost of classroom newspapers.
The rest of the cost is covered by donations from readers, fund-raisers and local businesses through the Partners in Education initiative.
