VALDOSTA — Valdosta High School was vandalized early Saturday morning.

Graffiti, including profanity and references to Lowndes High School, was spray painted on the white areas of the school’s exterior and on several columns, said Valdosta City School System Superintendent Dr. Bill Cason.

Two cars that were left on campus were also spray-painted on the hoods and will probably require complete repainting, Cason said.

The cars belonged to VHS teachers.

In addition to profanity, other phrases printed included, “Lowndes 7, Valdosta 0” and “Don’t bother to show up,” Cason said.

“What disturbed me the most was that they painted those two cars. There was absolutely no reason for that,” Cason said.

The vandalism occurred after the football team returned from their away game, Cason said.

Security cameras captured video of two males, but they were both wearing masks, he said.

While identification of the two may be difficult, Cason said a police report has been filed and the matter turned over to the Valdosta Police Department.

“If we can identify the children that did this, and obviously they were young men, even if they had masks on their face, we will take appropriate action,” Cason said.

The custodial crew had the graffiti painted over by Saturday evening, Cason said.

Cason said that security on campus is heightened each year the week before the Winnersville Classic but that next year security will be enforced in the evening even earlier.

VHS Principal Gary Boling will caution all of his students not to retaliate, Cason said.
