LHS summer graduation
Whether the number is 581 or just one, Lowndes High School celebrates the achievements of all its graduates in grand style. This summer Alana Noelle Bradford completed her graduation requirements, and on Saturday, Sept. 6, Lowndes Board of Education Chairman Jason Wisenbaker, Lowndes Board of Education member Philip Poole, Lowndes County School System Superintendent Steve Smith, Lowndes High School Principal Wes Taylor, and others joined Bradford and her family and friends to celebrate her accomplishments.
Bradford is the daughter of Missy and Steve Green of Lake Park. The formal ceremony included the traditional graduation robes, the graduation march, addresses to the graduate by Smith and Taylor and the formal awarding of her diploma.
The small, intimate ceremony had been originally scheduled for Aug. 23, but because of school closures due to Hurricane Fay, the ceremony was postponed, thus preventing the participation of seven other candidates who also qualified for summer graduation. The eight summer graduates, combined with the 581 who graduated in May ceremonies, constitute the Class of 2008, the largest in the history of Lowndes High School.
