Charles Gibson apologizes for cancellation

ABC News issued the following statement from Charlie Gibson regarding canceling his news show that was originally scheduled to stop in Valdosta Friday.

In his blog on the network's website, Gibson states, "Today I blog simply to express an apology to the cities of Orlando, Florida, and Valdosta, Georgia. As you may have seen in the promotional announcements for World News, we have been planning a bus trip Thursday and Friday of this week through Florida and Georgia ... Because of the financial crisis that has consumed Washington and Wall Street, and the entire country, we have had to cancel the first leg of the trip that would have had us broadcasting from Orlando Thursday night and Valdosta on Friday."

ABC News will still be in Valdosta Friday broadcasting with Atlanta based reporter Steve Osunsami on the air.

" I hope you will show them the same courtesy I know you would have shown me and my team had we been able to ride the bus in to town," said Gibson.
