VALDOSTA — A Taco Bell restaurant was robbed at gunpoint Tuesday night and the suspects remain at large.
At approximately 10 p.m., three males entered the Taco Bell at 2918 N. Ashley St. and demanded money while displaying a handgun, according to Valdosta police. The offenders fled the scene on foot minutes later after obtaining an undisclosed amount of money. No one was injured during the incident.
VPD officers, detectives and crime scene unit members responded to the scene; however, no suspects were taken into custody. At this time, authorities are searching for three black males, who were described as 17 to 23 years old with slender builds. They wore dark clothing at the time of the robbery, witnesses told police.
This is the second armed robbery to occur at a Taco Bell restaurant and the fifth to occur at a fast food restaurant within the last month. Police are still investigating two robberies at Hardee’s on Patterson Street, as well as the robberies of Sonic on West Hill Avenue and Taco Bell on North St. Augustine Road.
Valdosta Lt. Bobbi McGraw stated that while there is not evidence that would make law enforcement believe the incidents are related, the possibility of a link between such similar incidents is commonly explored.
As the search for the suspects in all five robberies continues, authorities ask that anyone with information about any of these incidents contact the VPD Bureau of Investigation at (229) 293-3145 or the anonymous 24-hour Crime Tip Line at (229) 293-3091.
