VALDOSTA — A robbery suspect was captured in Florida Tuesday after authorities linked him to three incidents in Valdosta and Lowndes County.

Valdosta Police Department Cmdr. Eugene Bell said that, after a joint investigation, the Valdosta Police Department and Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office connected 30-year-old Adam Lee Simmons to the recent robberies of Pizza Quick on Inner Perimeter Road, Subway in Wal-Mart on Norman Drive and Gap Outlet Store in Lake Park.

Simmons was arrested at his home in Greenville, Fla., Tuesday. He was extradited back to Georgia Wednesday to face robbery charges, said Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Aaron Pritchett.

Authorities were able to identify Simmons as the suspect after reviewing surveillance of the incidents, as well as physical descriptions of the suspect given by witnesses. Simmons was also in possession of a red pickup truck that matches the description of one seen leaving one of the robberies, police said. No weapons were recovered during the suspect’s arrest.

On June 26 around 10:15 p.m., a white male entered Pizza Quick, ordered a pizza and then demanded money, Valdosta Police Department Lt. Bobbi McGraw previously told The Times. Witnesses told authorities that the offender did not display a weapon but implied that he had one in his possession, McGraw said. The offender left the scene on foot after taking an undisclosed amount of money.

On Sunday, a white male entered Gap in Lake Park, got a few items and took them to the cash register. After the clerk gave the man his total, the man demanded money, Pritchett said.

“While the offender never displayed a gun, he implied that he would hurt the clerk with a firearm,” Pritchett said. “The offender then fled with an undisclosed amount of money.”

Later that same day, around 8:44 p.m., a white male entered the Subway restaurant inside the Wal-Mart on Norman Drive, ordered a sandwich and then demanded money from an employee.

“The offender did not display a weapon but threatened the clerk’s well being if she did not comply with his demands,” McGraw said.

He took the money and left the restaurant.

No one was injured during any of the robberies.
