VALDOSTA _ A fire at the end of Saturday’s Wild Adventures Independence Day fireworks destroyed a bush but damaged nothing else, said Micha Hogan, a park spokesman, Sunday afternoon.
Fire from fireworks destroyed what looked like a tree to many park goers, but was a bush, Hogan said. The fire did not damage any of the park’s structures.
Wild Adventures had firefighter ready and they quickly extinguished the blaze.
The fire happened on the side of the lake where pyro-technicians were launching the fireworks. This area was closed off to park-goers. Observers watched the show from other sides of the park’s lake. The fire started near the finale of the park’s Saturday fireworks for the All-American Weekend.
Fireworks concluded to “The Star-Spangled Banner.” By the end of the National Anthem, many people rose to their feet to observe the fire on the other side of the lake.
Applause erupted as the fireworks ended and firefighters extinguished the blaze.
