VALDOSTA — A man was arrested on Wednesday after investigators conducted a search of his home and found several stolen and illegal items.
Having recently received a complaint regarding a host of items missing from the campus of Valdosta Technical College, Lowndes County Sheriff Chris Prine said detectives began an investigation — one that led authorities to search a residence at 750 S. Lee St. Wednesday.
“During the search, investigators recovered computers, video cameras and several other valuable items,” Prine said. “They also confiscated at least 100 bootleg pornographic DVDs.”
Authorities also seized a Cadillac Escalade and a Mercedes Benz, more than $2,500 in cash, at least six weapons, and more than 1,000 pirated DVDs. The Times recently contacted Valdosta Technical College after hearing reports of items being stolen from the campus’s new building. Director of Public Relations & Information Christina Moore said that nothing had been reported stolen.
At least one suspect has been taken into custody in connection with the investigation.
Richard Mitchell, 28, is charged with theft by receiving stolen property.
No additional information was available at press time.
