Little Actors Theatre is registering youngsters for the annual Missoula Children’s Theatre workshops and performances this summer.
Set for July 13-18, this year’s play will be “Rumpelstiltskin.”
Missoula is a professionally-touring theatre company that works with children through sponsoring organizations across the United States.
During the past several summers, Missoula has become a popular annual Valdosta event for the Little Actors Theatre and area youngsters. Diane Tovar, LAT director, has said the program provides a fun and intense introduction to theatre for children who are curious if they are interested in plays, while allowing already interested youngsters to hone skills.
The youngsters will spend most of the week in theatre workshops and rehearsing “Rumpelstiltskin.” “Missoula directors teach, direct, costume, and set up a complete set in one week for the children to perform on Saturday,” Tovar said. On July 18, LAT/Missoula participants will present the show twice — once at 3 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. at the Valdosta High School Performing Arts Center off North Forrest Street. In addition to Missoula, Little Actors Theatre is a Valdosta-based organization that produces at least two major productions per year. LAT lives by the motto: Plays for children, by children.
At A Glance: LAT’s Missoula session is scheduled for July 13-18, Valdosta High School Performing Arts Center, off North Forrest Street. Registration fee: $90, LAT members, with a second child discount; $100, non-members. Ages: 6-18. More information: Visit the LAT Web site www.littleactorsvaldosta.com or call (229) 292-4742.
