'Pacing' planned for I-75

— As part of the I-75 widening project at Oakridge Bridge in Tift County, Georgia Power Company and Colquitt EMC will be relocating transmission and distribution equipment over and on either side of I-75 in Tift County between mile marker 57 and 58. To allow for the progression of this utility work, it will be necessary to pace traffic intermittently on I-75. Tifton Police Department officers will pace traffic down to 20 mph for up to 10 minutes each hour (nine paces per day).
These pacings are expected to cause heavy daytime traffic delays. Motorists are urged to use US 41/SR 7 and other alternate routes to avoid this area.
WHEN: Wednesday, starting at 8:30 a.m., and Thursday, starting at 8:30 a.m., weather permitting. This work is scheduled to last until 4:30 p.m. each day.
WHERE: Southbound pacing will begin on I-75 at Exit 63A (2nd St. and King Road) in Tift County. Northbound pacing will begin on I-75 at Exit 49 (Kinard Bridge Road) in Cook County. Additionally, there will be officers stationed at the following interstate entrance ramps:
Northbound I-75
Exit 55 (Eldorado Road)

Southbound I-75
Exit 62 (US 82/SR 520)
Exit 61 (Omega Road)
Exit 60 (South Central Avenue)
Exit 59 (Southwell Boulevard)
This is a work zone and extreme caution is necessary. Motorists should reduce speeds while traveling through the work zone area as fines are increased. Both personnel and equipment will be in close proximity to travel lanes.
