Staff Reports

HOMERVILLE — Wells Fargo Insurance Services and Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company awarded three fire departments grant money totaling $20,000 for firefighting equipment.

The money will be used to purchase a variety of new rescue gear and other tools. Langdale Industries was instrumental in the process of identifying • $10,000 – Echols County Volunteer Fire Department

(The grant money will go toward the purchase of a new fire truck.)

• $5,000 – Homerville Volunteer Fire Department

(Funding will help outfit new brush truck with necessary equipment, including water tank, tool boxes, hoses, fittings, and nozzles.)

• $5,000 – Fargo Volunteer Fire Department

(Money to go toward purchasing a 350 gallon water tank, as well as hoses, fittings, and nozzles for a brush truck.)

The grant package is part of a nationwide program called Fireman’s Fund Heritage, which is funded by Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company. The program is designed to provide needed equipment, training and educational tools to local fire departments. Since 2004, Fireman’s Fund has issued grants to over 1,000 different departments totaling more than $18 million. Independent insurance agencies that sell Fireman’s Fund products are able to direct these grants to support fire stations in their communities. Wells Fargo Insurance Services was instrumental in directing these specific donations to the select Georgia departments.
