VALDOSTA — Valdosta High School Principal Brett Stanton has resigned from his position with the Valdosta School System, and announced his plans to join the Haralson County Board of Education as Superintendent during a VHS faculty meeting held Wednesday.
According to information released on the Haralson County BOE Web site, Stanton was accepted and named for the position on Monday of this week and will begin his new appointment on July 1.
“Dr. (Bill) Cason (Valdosta City Schools Superintendent) is happy that Principal Stanton’s goal of superintendent has finally been reached, and has offered him any support that he needs once he gets there and is serving in the role,” said Jennifer Steedley, VCS director of public relations.
According to information shared on the county’s Web site, Stanton will be meeting with administrators, teachers and the Haralson County community, as he prepares to take office.
Considered a part of the Atlanta Metropolitan area, Haralson County sits on the Northwest Georgia/Alabama border. The Haralson County School system serves nearly 4,000 students grades K-12 between its six system schools.
