Lowndes Visions
Lowndes High art students present a powerful show
By Dean Poling
VALDOSTA — From portraits and soldiers to abstractions and realism to cups and clay hamburgers, the Lowndes High School Spring Art Show seems to get better each year — which says a lot, since it has always been a strong exhibit.
Behind the talents and skills of the numerous student works are the influences of LHS art teachers Sherry Bennett, Heather Dorsey, and Amber Waters. Through their assignments, instruction and apparent willingness to let the student artists explore their own visions, these teachers hone the abilities and imaginations of their students.
More than 40 students entered the show, which was displayed in the LHS Media Center. Awards were given to students for best in show, two-dimensional and three-dimensional categories, as well as a list of honorable mentions.
