MORVEN — Morven hosts its annual Peach Festival 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Ernest Lawson Park.
The festival continues a 22-year-old tradition. The Peach Festival has continued to grow since its inception, as it celebrates Georgia’s trademark crop. There is no fee to attend.
Families from all across the South will be converging on the city to sample peach ice cream, purchase food, clothing, arts and crafts, and other collectibles from more than 100 different vendors, and soak up some down-home entertainment.
Asked if she thinks this year’s festival will top last year’s record crowd, Chairperson Sandy Rentz said, “We’re going to try. We’re definitely going to have more vendors than last year.”
The bake-off event is a regular feature and will begin at 10 a.m. Carolyn White was last year’s bake-off winner. The annual Peach Parade starts at 2 p.m. Rentz said she’s not sure yet who this year’s headliners will be, but she knows there will be some singing, clogging, and probably some guitar picking.
