Two arrested on drug-related offenses

By Malynda Fulton

HOMERVILLE — Two men were recently arrested in Homerville and charged with a number of drug-related offenses.

On April 22, the Georgia State Patrol requested assistance from the South Georgia Drug Task Force with a routine traffic stop.

According to a Friday, May 1, press release issued by Jamy Steinberg, special agent in charge with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation South Georgia Drug Task Force, the vehicle was stopped for a seatbelt violation. During the stop, the trooper on the scene discovered that the driver did not have a license.

Steinberg reported that the driver was arrested and taken to the Clinch County jail, where he was searched. Inside the driver’s left pant’s pocket, the trooper discovered three rocks of suspected crack cocaine in a pill bottle, Steinberg reported.

Samuel Clark was arrested and charged with possession of crack cocaine, Steinberg reported.

On April 21, officers with the Homerville Police Department, the Clinch County Sheriff’s Office and the South Georgia Drug Task Force apprehended a suspect after chasing him on foot in the area of Robinson Road in Homerville, Steinberg reported.

Dewayne Chaney Williams was arrested and charged with sale of crack cocaine, possession of crack cocaine, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance and obstruction of an officer, Steinberg reported.

The South Georgia Drug Task Force had warrants for his arrest, Steinberg reported.
