Wilson is Awarded VALUEE Grant

Valdosta Middle School graduation coach, Tracey Wilson was presented with a VALUEE Grant for the “Middle School At-Promise male initiative” she spearheaded. The At-Promise male initiative came about in an effort to ensure the African American male students are exposed to as many post secondary and career opportunities as possible before entering high school. A plan is being developed for the students to include academic and social mentors, motivational speakers and small group educational field trips.

The VALUEE Grant (Valdosta Assisting Learners in Unique Educational Experiences) is funded through the generosity of parents, community partners and the Valdosta city schools community. This grant is used to add value to the education of students in the Valdosta City School System. All teachers in Valdosta City Schools are eligible to apply. VALUEE Grants provide teachers with resources to explore new teaching techniques and develop creative class projects to enhance students learning. Grants are awarded to teachers on a competitive basis. Grants will be reviewed by a VALUEE Grant Committee. Notification to grant recipients and distribution of funds will be given three weeks from the date application is submitted.

For more information on the “Middle School At-Promise male initiative” contact Tracey Wilson at VMS at 229-333-8555.
