LOWNDES COUNTY — Several arrests were made Saturday night during a joint traffic operation by law enforcement agencies.
Lowndes County Sheriff Chris Prine said that the operation included Georgia State Patrol Post 31 in Valdosta, the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office drug squad, South Georgia Gang Task Force, Valdosta Police Department, Remerton Police Department, U.S. Marshal Service, Interstate Criminal Enforcement (ICE) team and Department of Natural Resources. The agencies also received assistance from Lowndes County Fire/Rescue and Lowndes County Jail Inmate Transport.
“During the operation, we arrested 14 people for DUI and two people with active arrest warrants,” Prine said. “Fifteen people were also arrested on possession of drugs, from marijuana to cocaine to meth. There was also an arrest for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.”
Prine expressed satisfaction with the results of the operation, as well as thankfulness that no one was hurt.
“This is a great example of agencies coming together to fight crime in the community,” Prine said.
