VALDOSTA — TV star Cee Cee Michaela is scheduled to participate in this weekend’s Teen Talk event hosted by Crossing Jordan Baptist Church’s Daughters of Destiny.
While Michaela may be best known for her role in the CW comedy “Girlfriends,” she dedicates herself to serving as a motivational speaker “promoting abstinence, leadership, integrity, character, and entrepreneurship,” according to Crossing Jordan. “She is quickly becoming one of the most sought after empowerment speakers on youth and women’s issues in America today.”
In Atlanta, she has opened Michaela’s Place for teens to participate in life-skills classes and delve into the character traits which Michaela promotes. She has also founded the annual HOLYwood Retreat for teens and their parents and is a founder of GodzGirl Network, “an organization with a mission to educate girls between the ages of 11 to 18, and their parents to equip them to improve their quality of life.”
Yet, it is as the wacky Yvonne on “Girlfriends,” which she is best known, but her entertainment career started in Michaela’s teens when she was discovered to have a four-octave singing range and the ability to sing in four languages. She has a CD called “Everybody’s Talkin’ ” and is working on a film project with Mo’Nique.
Crossing Jordan’s Daughters of Destiny invite teens and their parents to attend this weekend event and hear Michaela’s presentation.
Other churches and groups are invited to attend, but asked to call ahead for reservations.
