VALDOSTA — A Brooks County man has been arrested in connection with the Sunday shooting that left five people injured.
Gregory Marquise Turner, 19, is charged with five counts of aggravated assault for his alleged involvement in the incident, according to the Valdosta Police Department.
Additional charges are pending. Police are still investigating the possibility of other suspects, police stated.
At approximately 10:34 p.m. Sunday, five people were shot in the parking lot area of Andy’s Wings and Things at 1409 Lake Park Road.
An argument had broken out in the parking area between several males when one male reportedly pulled out a handgun and opened fire into a group of patrons.
Turner was arrested within 30 minutes of the shooting in the 1100 block of Old Statenville Road, the release stated.
The injured parties were transported to South Georgia Medical Center, where they were treated and released for non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. At least one of the victims is a high school student.
The case remains under investigation by the VPD and the South Georgia Gang Task Force.
VPD Capt. Bernard Robinson said that this is the fourth shooting that has occurred in Valdosta so far this year.
The reported number is a 60 percent decrease when compared to the number of shootings last year at this time.
Anyone with additional information about the incident is encouraged to contact the VPD Bureau of Investigations at (229) 293-3145 or the 24-hour Crime Tip Line at (229) 293-3091.
