VALDOSTA — The Home and Garden Show, which has proven to be the most exciting event for the building industry in South Georgia for the last six years, is expected to draw an even larger crowd this weekend during the seventh annual show at the James H. Rainwater Conference Center.
The show will include more than 111 vendors and provide displays and tips for gardening, home improvement projects, windows, doors, flooring items, interior design, decorating and much more. Guests will have the opportunity to speak with various manufacturer representatives, builders and store owners.
“Like previous years, the Home and Garden Show will highlight everything from the most current housing trends to the newest and most innovative products of the year,” Home Builders Association Executive Officer Jill Pope said. “If you are dreaming of a new home or remodeling your existing home, this is the place to visualize your fantasy and turn those dreams into reality.”
The featured seminars and workshops will address several major topics in the building industry. Saturday morning’s seminar will focus on permitting and inspection requirements for renovation and construction projects, zoning issues and necessary permits. Representatives from the Lowndes County Extension Office plan to inform the public about water conservation and down payment options for home owners will be explored during a seminar hosted by DCA assistance programs. Among other workshops is a mortgage lending session hosted by the Mortgage Banker’s Association.
Pope added that Lowe’s and Home Depot will also host activity workshops for children, ages 4 and up, throughout the weekend.
The Home and Garden Show can be visited Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Major sponsors include Home Builders Association of South Georgia, Southern Builder’s Supply, The Valdosta Daily Times, Reames Concrete, Alaglas Pools, Superside Kitchen Craft, Mr. Electric and Black Crow Media.
