VALDOSTA — Valdosta city school choruses present a Music In Our Schools Concert Extravaganza this evening at the Valdosta High School Performing Arts Center.
From Valdosta elementary schools, middle schools and Valdosta High School, each school chorus will present two choral numbers and the concert will conclude with a mass choir number which will include all of the students from each school. Included in the concert will be readings by a student from each school on “What Music Means To Me.” Posters and art work on how Music Touches Lives will also be displayed by each school. The community is invited and encouraged to attend to see how music touches the lives of our children and share in the joy that our children get from participating in music, according to organizers.
Rebecca Mullican, director of choral music at Valdosta High School, has taught music in Valdosta City Schools for 13 years. She has taught music for more than 30 years in Georgia, Florida and Louisiana.
Throughout March, which is Music In Our Schools Month, she has written guest columns in the new weekly Valdosta Daily Times supplement VDT View. Mullican’s last guest column on the music month runs in this Friday’s VDT View.
Valdosta City School’s Music In Our Schools Concert Extravaganza is 7 p.m. today, Valdosta High School Performing Arts Center, off North Forrest Street.
