Former NFL player faces drug charges in Adel

By Malynda Fulton

ADEL — A former NFL player was recently arrested in Adel on drug charges.

Former Atlanta Falcon Kenneth Tippins, 41, was taken into custody by Adel police last Sunday after an undetermined amount of cocaine and marijuana was discovered in his possession, according to Adel Police Chief Chad Castleberry.

Authorities had been investigating former Atlanta Falcon Kenneth Tippins, 41, for more than a month and ultimately gained enough probable cause to issue a warrant to search his residence. Upon searching Tippins’ home, police recovered an undetermined amount of cocaine and marijuana, as well as $500 and two vehicles believed to have been obtained through the sales of drugs, Castleberry said.

Born and raised in Adel, Tippins served the NFL for six years. He began his career with the Dallas Cowboys, but is best known for his position as linebacker for the Atlanta Falcons, with whom he spent most of his football career.
