Letters to the Editor for Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009
• Make A Difference Day a huge success
The Make A Difference Day cleanups that were held on Saturday, October 24, were a huge success. A total of two neighborhoods were cleaned. The County site consisted of the McLeod Circle neighborhood off of Hickory Grove Road. Some 161 volunteers gave their time and energy in Valdosta and Lowndes County. Between both of the neighborhoods, 32.9 tons of trash, litter, 402 tires, 16 appliances, four bicycles, lumber, lawn mowers, and other debris, including an old shopping cart and car seats, were removed.
Be sure to bring all of your unwanted electronic items to the Electronics Recycling Event on Saturday, Nov. 7, at Mathis City Auditorium from 9 a.m.- 1 p.m. Also, please come out and volunteer today at the Second Harvest of South Georgia (call 244-2678) for their Make A Difference Day activities. Keep an eye on our Web site at www.klvb.net for upcoming events. Remember, litter never picks itself up.
