A marriage proposal was captured on one of the security cameras in downtown Valdosta.

Business This Week: Mystery proposal caught on camera

By Kay Harris
The Valdosta Daily Times

A couple of months ago, I did a story on a business that completely renovated an old building in downtown Valdosta to an absolutely beautiful showplace and wonderful environment for their employees.

Well apparently, the good folks at ClientTell also have security cameras to protect their investment. As the building borders a downtown alley, one of the cameras is pointed in that direction and lo and behold, it captured, quite accidentally, what appears to be a marriage proposal.

In the video, according to ClientTell Vice President Chris Williams, the man gets down on one knee and you see the woman’s look of surprise and then begin to cry and laugh, etc. all at the same time. Williams said it appears from watching the video that her answer was Yes! to the proposal since they both kissed at the end. The date from the camera indicates that the proposal took place on August 2 at 5 p.m.

So, since they have this incredibly romantic moment caught on tape, Williams and the other really nice folks at ClientTell want to share the recording with the happy couple.

They have no idea who they are, but figured if I got this out so readers could see it, with a photo of the proposal, then surely someone in Valdosta will recognize the happy duo. If you do, please have them contact Chris Williams at ClientTell at (229) 244-9178.

I would love to hear their story too, so if you know them, please have them call me as well.

It’s not everyday that you see a business go to so much trouble to track down someone in this manner, and it was obviously a very sweet and touching moment. We all could use a dose of happily ever after this week, couldn’t we?

Business After Hours

If you are a member of the Chamber of Commerce, then you are invited to a Business After Hours Celebration this Thursday, Sept. 24 from 5 to 7 p.m.

The event is being held at the brand new Holiday Inn Express & Suites and its sister hotel, Comfort Suites. They are located side by side off Exit 18 beside Interstate 75, off St. Augustine Road behind Dennys.

I couldn’t find RSVP information on the invitation, but I assume you need to let the folks at the Chamber know you’re coming.

Business Roundup

The new Southwest Bank being built at the corner of N. Valdosta Road and Country Club is coming along, with the site preparation going on now. It looks like the rain is dampening things a bit though.
