  • Business This Week: Where’s the summer going?
Six weeks from tomorrow, school will be back in session for Lowndes County students, followed shortly thereafter by Valdosta and surrounding counties. It seems like children just got out, and they’re already preparing to go back.

  • Business This Week: Celebrate fathers today
Today is the day we set aside each year to honor fathers. Whether you are close to your own, or have adopted one along the way, you should do something kind for the fathers in your life.

  • Business This Week: Closing raises questions
It’s been a long time since I’ve heard so much from so many about a business, but when the brand new Horizon Travel Plaza shut down apparently last weekend, the phone lines lit up.

  • Business This Week: Grad season upon us
All area schools will be holding graduations either this or next week, and the community should be proud of the students who have attained this level of achievement. Hopefully, more than not will go on to obtain some sort of higher level of college or training in order to be successful and productive members of society.

  • Business This Week: Happy Mother's Day
I can remember as a child asking my mother why she and my dad got a day, but kids didn’t, and she always said, “That’s because every day is your day.”

  • Business This Week: What a week!

  • Business This Week: Relay for Life
The annual Relay for Life event to raise money for cancer research and treatment begins Friday night at 7 p.m. at the Valdosta Middle School track. Those who have survived the disease and their caregivers are asked to come be a part of the event, and to walk the first lap together.

  • Business This Week: Spring brings busy schedule

  • Business This Week: Spring into Art
The annual Spring into Art exhibit kicks off tomorrow night from 6 to 9 p.m. with a lovely reception for the artists for $45 a person. After Monday, those who wish to view the outstanding works of art may visit the Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts through late May during open gallery hours Tuesday through Saturdays.
