MORVEN — Rainy weather did not hinder Morven residents, tourists and visitors from enjoying a 22-year-old tradition in Morven Saturday, the annual Peach Festival.

This year’s event featured food, clothing, arts and crafts and collectibles from more than 100 different vendors. Families from all across the South filled Ernest Lawson Park to sample peach ice cream, purchase items and soak up some down-home entertainment.

Vendors included Watkins Products, Miller’s Bar-B-Que, Alligator Kabobs and many more.

Willie Jo Roberts and his wife, Betty, could be found picking out jewelry from a local vendor, Good Kharma. Betty, a Morven native, said that she has been coming to the festival since 1989.

“Since I live in Valdosta now, the Peach Festival is a great time for me to reconnect with old friends and people from Morven who I haven’t see in a long time,” Betty said.

Willie Jo said he always enjoys joining his wife at the festival and asserted that the best features are the entertainment and the gator tail.

“We just have a good time in the company of good people,” Willie Jo said. “The event seems to get bigger and better every year.”

Among other attendees were Morven native, Andrea Desantiago and her husband, Brandon.

“We’ve had a great time browsing through arts and crafts, eating pink ice cream and listening to the music,” Andrea said.

The festival was scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. A peach parade was also held at 2 p.m.
