VALDOSTA — The Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts has been dedicated to presenting children’s art since its opening 10 years ago.

Each year, during Youth Art Month, the center turns almost all of its galleries over to displaying works by area children and youths.

Nearly year-round, children’s art is displayed in the Roberta George Children’s Gallery. These exhibits present art from various schools and groups, offering youngsters the opportunity to see their works often professionally presented in the setting of a fine art gallery.

Children’s exhibits also bring new visitors to the arts center. Youthful artwork not only attracts the young artists to the Turner Center but children’s exhibits often bring parents, grandparents and other relatives — people who may have never before visited the Valdosta-area’s arts center.

Currently, the arts center hosts works by youngsters who participated in the Valdosta State University Sullivan Literacy Center program and the Turner Center’s Art Exploration program.

Visitors of all ages will find colorful, intriguing and fun works created by area children. Always worth a visit to see the creative flair of young artists at work.
