Little Actors presents musical take on ‘The Ugly Duckling’

VALDOSTA — "Honk!” is a children’s musical about finding one’s way while being one’s self.

“It lets people know that it’s OK to be different,” says Diane Tovar, director of Little Actors Theatre’s production, “and that somebody is going to love you for who you are.”

“Honk!” is George Stiles and Anthony Drewe’s musical comedy of Hans Christian Anderson’s “The Ugly Duckling,” the well-known story of a small bird that believes it is an ugly duck but grows up to be a beautiful swan.

Little Actors Theatre is an organization that features area children performing all roles in shows developed for children by children.

In presenting the spring show, Tovar is joined by Ellen May as musical director and choreographer. A 2011 graduate from the Boston Conservatory with a bachelor of fine arts degree in musical theatre, May recently moved to Valdosta with her husband, Justin, who is assigned to Moody Air Force Base.
